Private Douro Day from Porto: Favaios Moscatel Village and Pinhão
A private day out of Porto with a licensed driver-guide and a vehicle for your group alone, collected from your hotel or an agreed meeting point. The base price pays for the day itself: the driving, the guide, the stops in Favaios and Pinhão, and Wi-Fi, bottled water and refreshments on board. Wine tastings, winery visits, lunch and the boat are not included. You choose them after booking, with the operator's help, and pay for them separately.
The morning belongs to Favaios, up on the plateau above the Douro. The village is known for two things, Moscatel wine and its bread, and the Bread and Wine Museum covers both (entry is extra). Then a traditional bakery, where you taste bread made by hand and baked in a wood oven the village way.
From the plateau the road drops toward Pinhão through the vineyards, with viewpoint stops picked on the day according to visibility, timing and road conditions. In Pinhão there is a pause by the river and a visit to the railway station, whose azulejo panels show vineyard work, the harvest and life on the Douro.
Lunch is left open: a winery lunch, a traditional restaurant in Pinhão or something else, depending on availability. So is the afternoon. You can add a one-hour rabelo cruise from Pinhão quay and one wine experience, which might centre on port (vintage or tawny), on Douro DOC wines or on a wider estate visit, subject to availability. The operator says these are charged at clear prices with no hidden markup.
The way back follows the N222 toward Peso da Régua, with short photo stops when time allows, and ends near the Bagaúste dam on the Régua riverside.
Up to seven travellers per booking, guided in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish. Infant seats are available, and personal accident and liability insurance is included.
