You are in somebody's house. Jose Antonio and Maria Alejandra teach the class themselves, in their own kitchen, and ten years ago they left their jobs to start a pisco company and this experience, which explains both halves of the afternoon.

The cooking is tuna tartare, classic ceviche, and a pisco sour, with the fish bought that same morning. Eight people at most, so it stays a conversation.

The pisco is the part nobody else offers. They distil it themselves, and there are seventeen artisan flavours to taste, which is enough to discover that pisco is a category rather than a drink.

Dessert is a surprise.

Two and a half hours, in English or Spanish, with unlimited water and an exotic fruit tasting.

Vegetarian and gluten-free options, and they will work around allergies, if you tell them in advance.

Wheelchair accessible throughout, service animals allowed, prams fine.

  1. Tuna tart, pisco sour and ceviche at the hosts' home

The hosts meet the group in Miraflores and take it to their home. The class is led by a chef with more than 15 years of restaurant experience in Lima and Miami, together with his wife, and places are limited. The ingredients are bought the same day, and each guest prepares and eats their own dishes. The hosts produce pisco, and the class tastes among 17 artisan flavours. It starts with a tasting of exotic fruits. The group then prepares a tuna tart, learns the official pisco sour recipe and cooks a ceviche, and finishes with a surprise dessert. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, and the menu is adapted to allergies and food restrictions.
